The founding of HKI-SLAM represents a bold strategic effort to help Hong Kong’s educational institutions, government agencies, businesses, and individuals strengthen learning and practice in the areas of leadership, service, and service leadership.

OUR VISION

We are inspired by our dream that every individual possess the potential to emerge as a service leader with valued task competencies, attractive character strengths, and a caring disposition.

OUR MISSION

We aim to establish Hong Kong as the Global Fount of Service Leadership and Management (SLAM) education by creating a culture of service leaders who possess expert service leadership competencies and character strengths plus a caring social disposition.

OUR OBJECTIVES

To achieve our mission, HKI-SLAM intends to partner with interested community leaders and philanthropists; educational institutions and leaner-centered educators; government agencies and caring civil servants; service industry companies; service sector leaders and practitioners; and others to:

  • Design, develop and arrange for the presentation of lectures on the subjects of service and leadership and the exemplary nature of service leadership in Hong Kong.
  • Design, develop and publish exemplary texts, handbooks, self-help guides, and other curricular materials on the subjects of service, leadership, and service leadership for all ages and abilities.
  • Promote the development of sustainable credit- and non-credit bearing SLAM courses at the university level.
  • Promote the development of sustainable co-curricular and extra-curricular SLAM activities at the university level.
  • Promote the development of SLAM education guides aimed at supporting and enhancing secondary school liberal studies projects in Hong Kong.
  • Encourage and support governmental, quasi-governmental, and NGO efforts to develop, implement and sustain SLAM staff and professional development training, events and workshops across Hong Kong.
  • Encourage and support service industries and service companies’ efforts to develop, implement, and sustain SLAM staff and professional development training, events and workshops across Hong Kong.
  • Promote the development and sustainability of SLAM education and SLAM communities of practice globally.
