SLAM ESSENTIAL CURRICULUM STRANDS (ECSs)

HKI-SLAM encourages educators and scholar-practitioners to develop SLAM curriculum and co-curricular programs around HKI-SLAM’s Core Beliefs (CBs) and Essential Curriculum Strands (ECSs) and to strive to create experiential learning opportunities intended to help learners attain SLAM Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs).

The curriculum design and development process, however, should always begin with a university identifying its own Intended Learning Outcomes (ILOs) first and then aligning its Service Leadership outcomes to them.

SLI CURRICULUM DEVELOPMENT

Innovative institutions and creative program developers are expected to develop curriculum and co-curricular programs that support their institution’s mission while addressing the abilities and needs of its learners. In other words, institution's and service leadership program developers are encouraged to self-select from the SLAM Framework and use a broad range of content that is relevant to their specific institutional objectives. While at the same time, striving to appropriately address as many of SLAM’s essential content strands as possible.
